Take your fiction writing to the next level. This workshop will explore how to activate characters and scenes to make your storytelling more compelling. In addition to daily workshop sessions, students will be armed with character and scene activating tools through acting, filmmaking and screenwriting exercises. These techniques will be utilized and explored in writing exercises. A submission of work beforehand is required two weeks before the class begins.

Heather Parkinson Dermott received her MFA in film production from University of Southern California.  She is the author of Across Open Ground, a coming of age novel set in the Wood River Valley at the dawn of WWI. She has directed and produced a number of award winning short films. She currently lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband and two children. She is editing her second novel and developing a healthcare app.
