Hosts welcome you at their beautiful homes and unique locations around Sun Valley. These small sit-down gatherings featuring exceptionally talented chefs rising to the challenge of creating a multi-course meal worthy of the exceptional wines that our generous vintners have chosen to share with the select guests in attendance.

Vintner dinners are only available with the purchase of a Grand Cru or Premier Cru package.

 


1. Cleveland Residence

A Wells Fargo Private Bank Dinner

Kirsten and Brad Cleveland’s French country style home, nestled against the side of Dollar Mountain, boasts enviable views of Bald Mountain from the deck, not to mention a gorgeous garden, perfect for dining al fresco and enjoying stellar wines from Canihan Family Cellars and Leonetti/Figgins. Join other supporters of the arts for an unforgettable meal, paired with extraordinary wines. Special bottles from the Figgins family’s collection will be served, perfectly complementing Scott Mason’s mouth-watering culinary creations. And Bill Canihan, a Wine Auction regular, will show off his flavorful and expressive Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, and Cabernet Francs that have been winning medals left and right. Canihan’s superb wines boast subtle spice flavors and silky textures, and will pair superbly with the flavors of the evening. All of these ingredients will surely come together to create a magical experience.

Canihan Family Cellars
Bill Canihan’s boutique winery produces award-winning wines from certified organic estate vineyards in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, using techniques influenced by classic European traditions.

Figgins Family Wine Estates/Leonetti Cellar
For more than 35 years, the Figgins family has produced wines of consistently high quality at Leonetti Cellar. Today, Leonetti Cellar produces some of the most coveted American wines in the world. The winery is dedicated to growing, producing, and marketing wine of world-class quality, sustainability, and pedigree.

Scott Mason of Enoteca and Ketchum Grill, Ketchum, Idaho
Scott Mason has spent over 30 years refining his craft and expanding his palate. He has brought his talents to fruition in his restaurants, Ketchum Grill and the newly opened Enoteca, two local favorites beloved by residents and visitors alike for fresh and innovative fare.


2. Hamachek Residence
Barbara & Tod Hamachek

Barbara and Tod Hamachek’s contemporary home is perched above the Big Wood River, embracing the natural beauty of its surroundings. This private oasis, filled with light, is the perfect setting for an intimate Vintner Dinner where you will be pampered by Judith McQueen’s culinary artistry. Judith is the secret behind some of Sun Valley’s best parties and a champion of sustainability and eco-cuisine. Her creativity in the kitchen results in elegant presentations and luscious flavors. As a brilliant match for Judith’s talents, Peay Vineyards will present their selection of beautifully crafted wines, which have won much acclaim in recent years, and Pete Perry from Dana Estates will share his unique and highly prized Cabernets, each one magnificent in its own way. An evening spent with such impressive wines and incredible food is one to be treasured for a long time.

Dana Estates
This Rutherford winery is dedicated to making small lots of truly distinctive wines and is one of the world’s leading Cabernet houses. Dana Estates has gained a name as Napa’s newest cult destination, and its releases have garnered rave reviews from leading critics around the country.

Peay Vineyards
A first-generation family estate, Peay produces terroir-driven Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay with intense, elegant flavors from their remote and rugged West Sonoma Coast vineyard. They have quickly become one of the hottest new wineries, leading a trend towards wines of balance.

Chef Judith McQueen of Hailey, Idaho
Judith McQueen has been a private chef for more than 20 years and is known for her attention to detail and sense of style, often combining design and entertainment aspects into her catering events.

Tucked into the hillside above the meadows of the north valley, this Vintner Dinner offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Boulder Mountains. The Hickeys’ contemporary home, designed by Mark Pynn, melts into the natural landscape with beautiful rock and glass details. Dinner will be served in the garden and prepared by a valley favorite, Vintage Restaurant. Known for a distinctive blend of fresh ingredients, the chef will present a remarkable menu for your enjoyment. In tandem, winemaker Erich Bradley from Repris will be pouring wines from their newly-designated Moon Mountain AVA, intense with the color and flavor that is the mark of their expert wine-making. You will also taste some of the hidden gems from Copain to round out the noteworthy selection of oenological treats. Stunning views, delightful wines, fine company, and tantalizing delicacies will be yours for the taking during this enchanted evening.

Repris Wines
High above Sonoma and well off the beaten path is Repris, a producer of world-class Bordeaux varietals and blends from the historic Moon Mountain Vineyard. Crafted by Erich Bradley, Repris wines are allocated exclusively for members and those who visit the estate.

Copain Wines
Copain’s winery is perched on a hill overlooking the Russian River Valley. In this distinctive setting, winemaker Wells Guthrie creates wines that are firmly rooted in California, yet possess European sensibilities. He is committed to producing elegant, nuanced wines and is inspired by the traditions and practices of French winemaking.

Rodrigo Herrera of Vintage Restaurant, Ketchum, Idaho
Rodrigo Herrera is co-owner and executive chef at the award-winning Vintage Restaurant in downtown Ketchum. Vintage features fresh, local, and eclectic American dishes with global nuances, as well as an extensive wine list.


4. Hitchin Residence

The location of Jill and David Hitchin’s home, fittingly named “Chanteclair,” is peaceful and romantic, with spectacular north valley views. Not only is the home exquisite, but the hosts are too. Jill and David will charm you with their stories and generosity. And caterer David Fox will charm your palate with luscious new flavors. David is a master at pairing a meal of fresh and unique ingredients with premium wines. The Marc Mondavi family will pour a variety of their signature Napa Valley wines, perfectly matched with each dish. The evening’s inspired selection will also feature a special treat—Cabernets from the family’s new boutique label, Aloft. These big, lush wines are made in tiny lots and are certain to impress. With this thrilling combination of outstanding wine, warm hosts, and a brilliant chef, you may never want to leave.

Aloft Wines
Working with the highly regarded winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, and his best friend and vineyard manager Jim Barbour, Marc Mondavi crafts a few barrels of prized Howell Mountain Cabernet from his new Cold Springs Vineyard. You will be among the lucky few to taste both vintages of this incredibly special wine, only in its second release.

Growing grapes and making wine is a way of life for the Mondavi family, fusing modern technology with traditional French methods. The Bordeaux-style wines from the Mondavi vineyards brim with great fruit, amazing balance, and food-friendly compatibility.

David Fox of Silver Fox Catering, Ketchum, Idaho
Chef David Fox, a longtime Sun Valley local, has specialized in catering and event planning in Idaho’s Wood River Valley since 1989. His culinary creativity and proven attention to detail allow him to turn any kind of gathering into a magical affair.


5. McGowan Residence

The magical partnership is back again this year, as celebrity chef Beau MacMillan teams up for another memorable Vintner Dinner with the superstars from Kosta Browne Winery and their perennially sold-out Pinots. This time, they will be joined by Drew Bledsoe of Doubleback, who will add to the fun and round out the outstanding wine selection with jaw-dropping reds from his vineyards in Walla Walla. The vintners are bringing magnums of their very best wines to this dinner, offering exclusive access to incredibly limited releases. Of course, it’s all about the details, and not a single one will be overlooked at this event. Rob McGowan’s contemporary home, designed by B&B Italia, is secluded and luxurious—the ideal setting for savoring an incredible meal on a gorgeous outdoor terrace and enjoying wines of undisputed excellence. And with special gifts from the vintners and even a late-night mixologist…this party could go all night!

The flavorful and intense single-vineyard wines from Kosta Browne are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of their pedigreed vineyards in Sonoma County. Their highly sought-after Pinot Noirs have catapulted the winery to the top tier of producers in California.

Doubleback Winery, Drew Bledsoe, Proprietor
Doubleback is an estate-focused winery with the goal of producing ultra-premium Cabernets from the Walla Walla Valley. Their wines have gained a cult following for their impeccable balance and each year’s release has proven that Doubleback is a rising star in the industry.

Beau MacMillan, executive chef at elements, Sanctuary Resort’s award-winning restaurant, is a renowned Food Network chef and Iron Chef America winner. Chef MacMillan’s ingenuity in the kitchen is stimulated by a belief that food should not be overworked, but rather appreciated for its simplicity and natural perfection.


6. Mills/Campanale Residence

Spend an evening at the elegant home of Alma Mills and Dr. Ralph Campanale, an Italian-style villa with covered decks and verandas, ponds, and sweeping mountain views. It is the perfect place to enjoy a fabulous meal prepared by local chef Chris Kastner, of CK’s Real Food in Hailey. CK is a master of pairing local ingredients with wines, and this year, Long Meadow Ranch will introduce their portfolio of top-notch wines to the Vintner Dinner scene. Partnering with Long Meadow is Northstar, the award-winning winery from Walla Walla. Northstar’s Merlots are full-bodied, yet balanced, and have earned stellar reviews and consistently high scores year after year.​ In this charming and festive setting, representatives from both vineyards will be pouring exceptional varietals while Chris Kastner works his wizardry in the kitchen. It is an evening sure to tantalize the senses.

Long Meadow Ranch Winery
The wines from Long Meadow Ranch, in the heart of Napa Valley, are renowned for their elegance and balanced style. Sommeliers at the finest establishments feature their boutique wines on award-winning lists. Long Meadow’s sustainably farmed vineyards allow them to bring extraordinary flavors and integrity to the table.

Northstar Winery
Winemaker David Merfeld crafts world-class Merlots of great distinction and acclaim from the unique terroir of Walla Walla, demonstrating the potential of the variety in Washington State. Northstar’s wines achieve a perfect balance of varietal purity, fruit intensity, and ripe, harmonious tannins.

Chris Kastner of CK’s Real Food, Hailey, Idaho
Using local and regional foods, and drawing inspiration from different cuisines around the world, CK creates tasty and healthy dishes for his many fans in the valley. The mission of the restaurant is eating and buying local with a big focus on sustainability.


7. Peters Residence

The Peters home is a contemporary sanctuary of glass and concrete, suspended above Ketchum with expansive 360-degree views to the town and mountains beyond. Light streams into huge glass windows throughout the beautifully designed house, where you will discover the immeasurable culinary talents of Justin Smillie, a James Beard semi-finalist for Best Chef in NYC this year. Failla winemaker Ehren Jordan has a full portfolio of European –inspired wines from which to choose the evening’s course parings. A perfect balance of mouth-watering acidity, subtle fruit, tannic structure and alcohol, Failla wines are a pure expression of their terroir.   And Suzanne Phifer Pavitt will be back again this year, bringing her single vineyard “Date Night” Cabernets to the table for you to taste. This full-bodied, traditional Napa Cabernet has quickly gained wide acclaim. With this kind of match-up in the works, something truly special is bound to happen and you won’t want to miss it.

Failla Wines
According to The Wine Advocate, “FAILLA is a top-notch source of high-quality, European-inspired wines that combine flavor, intensity, and elegance.” Named 2008 Winemaker of the Year by the San Francisco Chronicle, French-trained winemaker Ehren Jordan of Failla focuses on cool-climate grape sources to produce food-friendly wines of crisp acidity and layered complexity.

Phifer Pavitt Wine
Hidden in the hills near Calistoga is a small winery producing big, powerful Cabernets. Winemakers Ted Osborne and Gary Warburton have a passion for consistently pushing the wine quality at Phifer Pavitt to new heights, resulting in rave reviews and ever-increasing popularity.

Justin Smillie of il Buco Alimentari e Vineria, New York, New York
During his early training as a chef, Justin fell in love with bold flavors, rustic technique, open fire, and farm to table cooking. As the executive chef at il Buco Alimentari e Vineria, a New York Times three-star restaurant, Justin enjoys bringing “farmer’s market-driven” cuisine to the menu.


8. Pyle Residence

The Pyle home, nestled into the side of Knob Hill, was built with every detail in mind. Enjoy the views from this extraordinary mountain perch while you are treated to a delectable feast prepared with the utmost attention by a team of gifted chefs. Executive Chef Rob Wilson will bring his creative and spontaneous style to the table, along with the talents of local dynamic catering duo, Callie and Maeme Rasberry. Together they will produce a sumptuous meal made from the very best in fresh Idaho fare. As the perfect complement, Cyril and Blakesley Chappellet will pour their classic top-notch wines from Pritchard Hill, prized by the world’s premier collectors. An added treat for the evening will be a fabulous Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from Sonoma-Loeb, Chappellet’s sister winery.

Executive Chef Rob Wilson of Montage Laguna Beach, Laguna Beach, California
Star chef Rob Wilson has an extensive culinary background and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New York. Named “Chef of the Year” by Chef Magazine in 2008, he joined Montage in 2010 after an impressive history spanning two decades as Executive Chef with the Ritz-Carlton chain.


9. Wolcott Residence

Amongst the picturesque gardens and unspoiled mountain views of Indian Creek, Gina and John Wolcott will open their riverside home for an elegant evening of fine wine and Cristina’s legendary cooking. Cristina will craft a meal combining remarkable colors, aromas, and tastes to create an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie. And Benchmark Wine Group, a premier source for the world’s top wines, will add to the fun, pouring once-in-a-lifetime wines such as 1982 Bordeaux, Napa Classics, and First Growths that will pair marvelously with each of Cristina’s meticulously crafted courses. Cristina Cook of Cristina’s Restaurant, Ketchum, Idaho
Cristina Ceccatelli Cook grew up in Tuscany and moved to the United States in 1993. She is the author of two successful cookbooks. Her restaurant in Ketchum is a special place where people gather to enjoy the company of friends and taste the fresh, uncomplicated flavors of Cristina’s Tuscan childhood.
