John Grade, Spur, 2016
Stunning views, delightful wines, fine company, and astounding delicacies will be yours for the taking during this magical evening. In a beautiful location just south of Ketchum sits the sculpture, Spur, commissioned by The Center and created by renowned artist John Grade as part of The Center’s multi-part exhibition, Craters of the Moon. The piece is installed where Union Pacific trains once passed, delivering visitors to the Wood River Valley, and the site still holds a small section of the original railroad track. The sculpture’s charred black interior and the horizontal spines running its length evoke those tracks and allude to the area’s history, as does the sculpture’s title, Spur. In this creative and unusual setting, with the mountains and stunning artwork as a backdrop, Ketchum chef Taite Pearson will be working wonders to present a sumptuous and elegant farm-to-table dinner to be enjoyed under the stars. And as the perfect complement to the flavors of the evening, enjoy top-notch Cabernets from O’Shaughnessy Estate. DuMOL’s excellent Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs round out the noteworthy selection of oenological treats. Come enjoy one of the most unique vintner dinners ever offered by the Sun Valley Center Wine Auction.
