Spring Valley Vineyard is a small production Washington state winery north of Walla Walla, producing only estate-grown and bottled red wine. The names given to Spring Valley wines are a tribute to the family members who have struggled and succeeded in farming the same land for well over 100 years. The limited edition box set features six 2011 wines as well as a full-color printed history of the Corkrum-Derby family and the vineyard. To give you a sneak peek at what’s in store, the selection includes the Katherine Corkrum Cabernet Franc, given 93 points by The Wine Advocate, as well as the award-winning Sharilee Petit Verdot. Start off with two bottles of 2011 Snake River Valley Mourvedre, a complex and tannic red that begs for meat and potatoes. You will have a secret love affair with this wine. Hayfork Wine Company’s goal is to emphasize the importance of farming in winemaking. They strongly believe that the hands of the farmer in the field lay the foundation necessary to produce a quality wine. Wine also advocates kinship, and Hayfork’s winemaker Haley Wight makes wine with that philosophy in mind. She likes to imagine that Hayfork is creating a product that encourages people to gather together with family and friends.

By taking home two Magnums of the 2011 Hayfork Lewelling Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon this evening, you will certainly be tempted to do just that. This beautiful young wine proves itself with steady tannins, flavors of pepper and black raspberry, balanced oak and a luscious velvety texture. Silent Lot #124 – Ste. Michelle Wine Estates

We all know that Chateau Ste. Michelle is a bastion of Washington winemaking. And tonight, they offer up some of their most inspired creations—three Magnums of their 2010 Artist Series blend. Winemakers and artists have drawn inspiration from one another for centuries. For the Artist Series Meritage wines, head winemaker Bob Bertheau crafts exceptional Bordeaux-style blends of unique power and character that honor world-class artisans such as Dale Chihuly, Alden Mason, and Andre Petterson. The 2010 vintage delivers black cherry aromas and spice notes with velvety tannins. Most of the blend was sourced from the Cold Creek Vineyard, providing power and elegance. Fruit from the Canoe Ridge Estate vineyard rounds out the wine for a layered, complex and harmonious result and a smooth finish. This wine was given 92 points by The Wine Advocate, and the review highlights its “…superb concentration and mid-palate density,” calling it a “medium to full-bodied, classy wine.”

The Donum Estate, loosely translated as “gift of the land,” is both a place and a unique product, comprised of three vineyards perfectly suited to Pinot Noir. Here, the winemakers share a love of the land and a passion for wine. Their gift of the land for you tonight is a package of four Magnums from their impressive collection of Pinot Noirs, all scoring 94 points and above from Wine Spectator.

The 2008 Donum Carneros West Slope Pinot Noir (96 points) flaunts “an abundance of succulent berry flavors and an impeccable balance of weight and intensity in an enduring, refreshing finish.” Not to be upstaged is the 2009 Donum Carneros East Slope Pinot Noir (96 points), a “stunning red [with] plenty of both power and finesse [that] retains an air of sophistication.” Tempting tasting notes describe the 2010 Donum Carneros Estate Pinot Noir (95 points): “Deftly combining earthiness and fresh fruit, this brooding wine is lifted by wonderful acidity, and finishes with a lingering raspberry flavor.” And rounding out the dazzling selection is the 2011 Donum Russian River Reserve Pinot Noir (94 points), a stand-alone wine that is incredibly intense yet retains bright, excellent structure. What a gift!

Located in the remote Atlas Peak District, Antica produces very small lots of truly outstanding wines, a testament to the discipline and knowledge of the Antinori family. The family’s history in the wine industry spans six centuries and 26 generations. This vertical collection of Magnums of Antica Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from 2009-2011 represents some of their best selections, hence the winery’s “Primo Selezione” categorization.
