Focused on Bordelais-style wines, Long Meadow Ranch Winery continues a proud legacy of crafting elegant, food-friendly wines at their 650-acre Mayacamas Estate winery and caves, cultivating 16 acres of mountain vineyards, producing estate grown wine and premium olive oils, raising grass-fed Highland cattle and tending and harvesting the oldest olive orchard in the Napa Valley. In 2002, Long Meadow developed two additional Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards on sites originally planted in the 1870s by pioneer, E. J. Church. The winery released the inaugural E. J. In 1979 R. Thornton Boswell founded Château Boswell and began producing Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The Château Boswell caves, 65 feet below the estate hillside vineyard, were designed to green building specifications with the desire to continue to be responsible stewards of the land. As the first certified Napa Green Winery, Chateau Boswell continues to preserve and protect the Napa Valley through their practices. The team at Château Boswell produces small-lot, premium wines that display the unique characteristics of their vineyard sources through old-world, low-intervention winemaking techniques. By far the smallest bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon under the Jacquelynn label, the winery’s Jacquelynn Cuvée represents the more experimental side of their winemaking process. In 1992 Debbie and Randy Lewis established a small family winery in Napa Valley and were joined by their son Dennis in 1999. The winery’s total production is approximately 9,000 cases annually of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The 2009 Hillstone Vineyard Cabernet is sourced from a small hillside vineyard at the Rutherford home of Carol and George Biel. Planted in 1993, the vines at Hillstone Vineyard are rooted in cobbly, light loam soils, terraced on a steep, west-facing slope in Rutherford. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new French oak, the 2009 vintage is deeply fruited with wild blackberry and currant, and aromas of espresso, sweet sandalwood and cedar oak spices. Fleshy, ripe and round on entry, the palate picks up weight and length with fine rustic tannins. Take home a half case of this beautiful wine tonight before someone else beats you to it.

Buehler Vineyards is a small, family-owned winery located in the mountains east of St. Helena in Napa Valley. Oakville Ranch is the original mountain vineyard of the sub-appellation that produces the New World’s most celebrated Cabernets. Covering just two square miles at the heart of Napa Valley, the Oakville district may be small, but its wines play a very big role in the connoisseur’s collection. At 1,400 feet above the valley floor, the Oakville Ranch vineyards produce fruit that speaks from the appellation’s signature red volcanic soil with a mountain accent. In 1971, the Sokol Blosser family planted grapes on just five acres in the Dundee Hills southwest of Portland. As one of the pioneering wineries of the region, Sokol Blosser has played a key role in developing and shaping the now-prominent Oregon wine industry. The winery is still family owned and operated, with the second generation now at the helm: siblings Alex and Alison Sokol Blosser. To thrive, Pinot Noir grapes need a particular climate like that of Burgundy, France. Coincidentally, the location of the Sokol Blosser estate is perfect for the notoriously temperamental fruit. You would be remiss if you didn’t try your hardest to win this outstanding three-year vertical collection of Magnums. The 2010 Dundee Hill Pinot Noir is extremely concentrated yet delicate and elegant, packed with intense flavors and a distinctive earthiness.
