These smaller encaustic workshops are designed to give artists a brief introduction to the encaustic process. Demonstrations are followed by independent work time, giving participants a chance to experiment with the paint and tools. Students can sign up for individual weeks or can sign up for the whole month. This class is perfect for both beginner and experienced encaustic painters.
Alison Higdon is a mixed media artist focused primarily in encaustic painting. Using this ancient art form of molten wax, resin, and pigment she combines design elements from various cultures, textures from nature and a sense for the abstract. Higdon states, “The natural world provides an immense palette of inspiration to fuel my creativity.”
This class is offered Saturdays, Apr 18, 25 & May 9, 16, from 1-5pm. Students can register for individual sessions or take all four sessions.
