In this introductory bookbinding course students will learn the basic steps necessary to build, design, and construct their own hardcover book. Students will learn the technique of Coptic bookbinding, a non-toxic and adhesive free process which dates back to the 2nd Century AD in Egypt and can be used to create personalized sketchbooks, journals, or book arts.
Chad is an artist and educator from Fort Collins, CO. He is a new media technology artist. He teaches at Colorado State University, Front Range Community College, and Metropolitan State University. He did his undergrad at Pratt Institute with an emphasis in intaglio, lithography and book binding and he has a masters at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Workshop takes place Sat & Sun, Jan 18 & 19 from 11am-2pm at The Center, Hailey.
