This class will explore the design process for creating a set on a theatre stage. By using the play The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams as the basis, students will explore through visual research, script analysis and imagination, the process of scenic design culminating in the creation of either a set model or rendering of their concept.
This process will examine different types of theatre spaces, the use of research and the role that the designer has in helping to create the world of the play. Discussions with a director will help steer the students and also show how theatre is a collaborative art form.
This is a 4-part class which be held Tues & Thurs, Nov 5, 7, 12 & 14, from 6-8pm.
