The Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Company of Fools will join theatre and arts organizations across the nation to participate in The Ghostlight Project—an informal sharing of light and celebration of the arts. The public is invited to participate in this free event, which will be held in front of the Liberty Theatre on Main Street in Hailey.
Inspired by the theatrical tradition of keeping a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater The Ghostlight Project will shine a light—literally and figuratively—on the importance of the arts in our society and the role of theatres and arts organizations as safe spaces that encourage the open exchange of ideas. This nationwide event brings communities together to reaffirm the power of the arts to foster inclusivity and empathy, embrace diverse ideas, and strengthen our connections with each other.
Here in the Wood River Valley, the event will be held outdoors at the entrance of the Liberty Theatre and led by Company of Fools Artistic Director John Glenn. Attendees are invited to share a quote or personal reflection that speaks to the arts’ role in our society. The event will conclude with a candle lighting ceremony. Participants are asked to bring a light source with them (a flashlight, lantern or cellphone) but have it off when they arrive.
