SOLD OUT! PERFORMING ARTS SERIES: Taimane

Sunday, January 26, 7:30 pm

Catch ukulele virtuoso, songwriter and rising star, Taimane, in a small, intimate venue before bigger stages beckon. Born and raised in Hawaii of hapa Samoan descent, Taimane is renowned for both her pyrotechnics on the ukulele and her prowess in using music and movement to paint vibrant images that elicit deep emotional response. Taimane’s performance will feature her band, Jonathan Heraux (percussion) and Ramiro Marziani (classical guitar), as well as a Polynesian dancer. She captured the eyes and ears of many at the mega SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, where National Public Radio (NPR) hailed Taimane as one of the week’s stand-out artists.

Every performer in the Winter Performing Arts Series will be performing in local schools as a part of The Center’s ongoing commitment to arts education. The Professional Artist Residencies are supported by Joyce B. Friedman in memory of Norman Friedman, Robin Leavitt and Terry Friedlander, Jane Rosen and Scott Miley—Scott Miley Roofing, Kay, Tenney and Bozo Cardozo, Bex Wilkinson and the Marshall Frankel Foundation, and Neil Zussman and Cathy Whinnery and in part by public funding for the arts through the National Endowment for the Arts, WESTAF, the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the Idaho Legislature.
