TEEN WORKSHOP: Coptic Bookbinding: Stab, Stitch and Sew with Chad Seelig

In this introductory bookbinding course students will learn the basic steps necessary to build, design, and construct their own hardcover book. Students will learn the technique of Coptic bookbinding, a non-toxic and adhesive free process which dates back to the 2nd Century AD in Egypt and can be used to create personalized sketchbooks, journals, or book arts.

Chad Seelig is an artist and educator who came to Idaho from New York City. He received his BFA in Printmaking from Pratt Institute and his MFA in Studio Art from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has worked for museums and galleries for the past 7 years, most recently as the Registrar/Collections Manager for Alexander Gray Associates in New York. He currently lives in Twin Falls, ID writing, creating sounds, and making artwork out of his backyard studio with his two dogs and two cats.

This workshop takes place over two days, Saturday & Sunday, October 29-30 from 12-4pm.
