In 1968, the Trefethen family purchased seven farms surrounding a magnificent, but run-down 19th-century winery in southern Napa Valley. True to the family’s vision of creating a classic wine estate, they have never purchased outside grapes. Instead, they take great care of their two sustainably-farmed estate vineyards in the Oak Knoll District. Trefethen Family Vineyards produces a diverse range of award-winning varietal, blended and reserve wines exhibiting the classic hallmarks of fine wine quality: richness with elegance, concentration with finesse, complexity with harmony and sophistication with approachability. These two bottles of wine, the 2011 Trefethen Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2013 Trefethen Family Vineyards Estate Chardonnay (90 points from The Wine Advocate), presented tonight in a special wooden box, exemplify the family’s passion for the land, its people and the art of crafting exceptional Napa Valley wines.
